- I'll be re-loading the archive of Christmas tunes. The old one was corrupted.
- I am aware of several other uploads that were corrupt on EPAS. Any idea if
- there's some sort of problem here?

- Try ZZPLAY or METAL - they both sound great. METAL has some problems with
- speed and stuff occassionally, but I think the KLF mods all work well.
- ZZPLAY doesn't like to load any MOD that's bigger than DOS avail. memory.

-
- We use FastTracker 6 and 8 channel "MODs" most of the time. They'll play
- well in ZZPLAY, so/so in Metal, alright in the MTM MMEDIT editor, and
- extremely well with DMP 2.72 if it works with your GUS. The only downside
- is that DMP will give you lots of shitty clicks on the GUS, but ZZPLAY
- doesn't have support for the imbedded panning commands we use.
-
- Even with our 4 channel MODs you'll have horrible results with UltraMOD,
- WinMod, and GusMod. These MOD players don't support essential commands like
- the ProTracker extended BPM command which controls the speed of the song.
- DMP and ZZPLAY are the most ProTracker-compliant MOD players that I've run
- across.

- Subject: JUST TO LET YOU KNOW #9 -
-
- This is an update to the bulletin I posted last Monday which talked
- about a bunch of files we released (Just to Let You Know #9).
-
- 1) I was mistaken when I said the new mixer (GUS0035.ZIP) was to add
- extra volume controls for a V3.4 UltraSound card. I didn't realize
- I had a 16 bit recording card installed at the time, which does
- have these extra controls, oops ;-). I have updated the README in
- GUS0035 and have re-released it.
-
- 2) Some people missed the part of the README which said that
- ULTRASND.INI must be in your UltraSound directory (Yes, it was in
- the README <grin>)
-
- "ULTRASND.INI has changed. You will need to manually edit
- the PatchDir= line in this file to point to your UltraSound\MIDI
- directory. Also make sure this file is in your UltraSound
- directory."
-
- I have reworded this in the updated README to specify your UltraSound
- directory and NOT your Ultrasound\Windows or MIDI directory. Which
- is where most people where trying to put this file.
-
- 3) There seems to be two common problems people are having with Mega-Em
- V2.00B23. The first is with the new EMM386 (V4.48/DOS 6.2 upgrade).
- If you are having this problem simply use the your Windows EMM386
- or your DOS 6.0 one. The other problems seems to be with SB Irq's
- failing, resulting in either the SB not being detected or playing
- through UltraSound memory (it is normal for the entire UltraSound
- memory being played if you reboot your computer during digital
- playback).
-
- There are 3 ways to try and fix this.
-
- 1) Change your SB/MIDI IRQ. If you were using 7 try 5.
- 2) If you are trying to get Mega-Em to co-exist with a real SB,
- then pull your SB.
- 3) Try setting your GF1 and SB/MIDI IRQ to the same and then
- re-run ULTRINIT. This will re-prime the IRQs and may work.
- For example: SET ULTRASND=220,1,1,7,7 then run ULTRINIT.
-
- Jayeson is working on fixing the problems we are hearing about over
- the nets. Something I would like to ask those of you having problems
- is to please email Jayeson at jayeson@gravis.com or fidonet mail
- to Jayeson at 1:153/978 with a detailed description of the
- circumstances that lead to the problem and any information about
- your configuration.
-
- Thats it for now. Time to go home and get some food. Chow (pun intended)

-
- There's a new dance/funk/pop song on EPAS! This one's an
- original GUS tune that I created with the help of some people on
- the Net. It's called "She's So Funky," and it can be found on
- EPAS under
-
- /pub/pc/ultrasound/submit/sofunky.zip
-
- The ZIP file contains MID (General MIDI compatible song file)
- and POP (Power Chords Pro song filel) files. Check it out and
- let me know what you think! (It's great to listen to when
- you're doing aerobics.)
-
- Thanks to Paul Tucker, Ken Goach, and Eric Bell for their
- creative contributions.
-
- Keep on GUS'ing!!
